Ambassador Interior
January 11th, 2009
More work was completed on the Ambassador’s interior this week. We built drawers, drawer fronts, a credenza, and end panel for the dinette area. Plus, everything was hand rubbed with Tung oil, and then waxed with Carnauba wax.
glimpse of the staged dinette components. we’re waiting for the drawer slides and other hardware, but it is essentially ready for permanent installation.
Another view of the dinette as seen from the galley.
Storage cubby in front, and drawer for bedding behind. The seat bottom is still missing in this picture.
On the curb side, a long drawer that opens into the entry way, and a second drawer for bedding towards the top of the picture.
One of the three twin temp heat exchangers in place. Teh space above is reserved for a Bose Acoustimass subwoofer.
The access cubby, opened. This is a deep cubby, perfectly sized for cases of drinking water or similarly sized storage crates.
I’d stash my wine there…

Credenza to be eventually be used for a mobile office. There will be a drawer that houses a laptop, with a top for a secondary work surface.
The drawer for the credenza gave us problems all week long, until we decided to build a new one. It remained un treated, and somehow the rapid changes in humidity and temperature twisted it into a pretzel. After numerous attempts to make it right, it was ceremoniously discarded. It now resides in the great heavens for warped maple drawers. Some of the uncut sheets were returned to the vendor for new ones. Even though we experienced some setbacks this week, we’re still happy with the progress.
Saturday’s Temps: mid 70’s, very low humidity ( 20%) very strong winds
